Simon Gerrans is one of the greatest Australian cyclists.

Through the span of his career, Simon rode for some of the best teams in the world, including AG2R, Team Sky and GreenEDGE. He also took home some of the most prestigious victories: 4 general classification victories at the Tour Down Under, Milan-San Remo 2012, Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2014, 2 stages of the Giro d’Italia and 4 stages at the Tour de France.

Simon had the honour of wearing the coveted Yellow Jersey at the 2013 Tour de France (only 286 riders worn this jersey since the inception of the Tour de France).
But Simon will also be remembered for holding back at the finish line of the following stage to allow fellow team-mate Daryl Impey to take the lead of the general classification and become the first African to wear the Yellow Jersey.

It is for this very reason we have asked Simon to become our 2020 L’Étape Australia by Tour de France ambassador: he has worked hard to make his way to the top of world cycling, and when he got there, he was the first to share his success with people who surrounded and supported him along the way.

In 2020, Simon Gerrans is committed to share his experience with you and help you become a better cyclist.

We are happy to announce that L’Étape Australia has teamed-up with Simon Gerransand Matt Keenan to create our very own podcast: “Cycling Insights“*. Once a month from April, Simon and Matt will discuss exclusive stories from professional cycling, memories from Simon’s career and training tips to improve your cycling.

In November, Simon will visit three different schools from the Kiama, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands regions to engage with local students and inspire them to ride their bicycle.

During L’Étape Australia by Tour de France 2020, Simon will take part in the exclusive Ambassadors Clinic in Kiama on Friday 27 November 2020, spend time with the riders at the L’Étape Australia Village (Kiama) and ride (not race) The Race on Saturday 28 November.

Welcome to the L’Étape Australia community, Simon!
